Building on the global success of its previous ICDL products, which have an enviable market in schools and colleges worldwide, Aston Swann has launched its new ICDL Syllabus V5 learning programme for the Education community

Aston Swann’s ICDL Education Courseware supports teachers and students working towards the internationally recognised ICDL qualification enabling students to leave school with an ICT qualification, that is recognised in the workplace and can also be used as a gateway to higher education and a career.

Wendy Swann, director says, “We have created a smart, sleek and interactive learning programme that reflects the advancement of modern technology and, at the same time, fulfils the requirements of the new ICDL 5.0 syllabus and much of the IT curriculum.

The unique layout relates to skill items and tasks, with titles that directly reflect those in the new syllabus. The titles are indexed making it easy for both the learner and the tutor to see, at any point, exactly where they are in their learning pathway. Themed exercises, using everyday examples such as writing a travel review or creating a gym programme, engage the learner and highlight the usefulness of the applications and the documents they are creating.

The popular ‘byte size learning chunks’ format, each with its own table of contents, index and printable course notes, is supported by a timed lesson plan. Each example can be undertaken as a classroom or homework assignment, building gradually into a whole ICDL module.

Today, it is not only important for students to have ICT skills that they can use across the curriculum, but also the confidence and competence to use the technology they will face when moving from an educational environment into the workplace.

As with our previous courseware there is a comprehensive Teacher Trainer Guide with timed lesson plans, PowerPoint presentations, prepared exercises and additional assignments for the enthusiast. For teachers this is a ready to use programme.

With the current and various Windows options, there is flexibility and the new modular product, in Office 2010 can be used with Windows 7 or Windows Vista. The program demonstrates a variety of ways to achieve each task and these are clearly demonstrated in the colourful courseware”.
